This afternoon the National Hurricane Center issued advisories and a new forecast path for potential Tropical Cyclone One in the Gulf of Mexico. As of this afternoon the forecast has this system potentially reaching tropical storm strength by Friday, and impacting southern and central Florida by Saturday as a tropical storm. Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for parts of Cuba, and southern and central Florida.
This storm will likely strengthen to tropical storm levels by Friday, potentially becoming the first named storm of the season (Alex). As this storm approaches parts of Northwestern Cuba, and southern and central Florida, it will bring tropical storm conditions with heavy rainfall, and gusty winds to those areas this weekend.
