Freezing Temps & Winter Precip for New Years!

Good morning north Texas, we have a few things to mention for your New Years forecast. To start, an arctic front will push into the region today bringing a fairly big drop in temps across the region. Area highs today will be in the mid to lower 40s for DFW and in the 30s in areas outside the city. Some light cold drizzle will be possible across the area today and tonight.

Starting late tonight through mid afternoon tomorrow, we could see some hazardous travel conditions arise in some spots across the areas shaded in pink as freezing drizzle and possibly a light snow, along with very cold temperatures could leave some slick spots on roads especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. For DFW minor accumulations could cause some issues tomorrow morning through tomorrow (areas shaded in light blue)

New Years Eve evening, area lows will be in the 20s with wind chills making it feel like the temperatures are single digit with winds reaching 10-15mph!

Today if you already have not done so, you will to wrap pipes and prepare plants for very cold temperatures! DO NOT leave sprinklers on! The water could become a hazardous slick surface!Have a good New Years Weekend!
