Winter Weather Update (2/5/2020)

Good evening north Texas here’s a quick winter weather update for this evening through early tomorrow.

6:21pm Radar view shows some sleet and snow mixed with rain occurring across the metro area. For now there’s no real impacts expected from this area of winter precipitation around the metro. We’ve gotten some reports of trace amounts of accumulation near the Denton, and North Sherman area as well.

Winter Weather Advisories and Warnings have been extended until 9pm this evening for the counties shaded in either purple or pink in the image above. These have been extended because of the winter precipitation still occurring across the area.

Tonight, temperatures will dip into the low to mid 20s! So tonight be ready for a very cold night across North Texas.

While widespread icy roads are not anticipated. Areas with higher amounts of accumulation west of DFW should be cautious while driving tonight and early tomorrow for the threat of ice on the roads.

For DFW, drivers may want to be cautious while driving in the morning, especially on bridges or overpasses. Widespread travel impacts do not look to be likely
