Fayetteville, ARK- It’s once again finally the weekend, and we have a look at your weekend forecast ahead for the coverage areas.
Saturday
Overnight Friday into early Saturday there could be some isolated pop-up showers across parts of the region to start the weekend. Not everyone will see this rain and isolated thunderstorm activity.

Afternoon highs tomorrow will gradually increase slightly warmer than highs today, and will be apart of a steady warming trend into next week. Highs area-wide will reach the lower to mid 90s area wide, with mostly sunny skies.

Saturday afternoon we will see not only a continuation of warm and humid weather, but we will also see yet another chance for some isolated pop-up showers and thunderstorms in parts of the coverage area.
Timing will be once again during the afternoon and evening. Not everyone will see this activity, as only a few pop-ups are once again expected.

Sunday
Sunday we will once again see slightly warmer temperatures than the day before as highs will continue to warm further into the 90s area wide.
Mostly sunny skies will once again be expected, with another low chance for maybe one or two pop-up showers and thunderstorms. Like the last few days and Saturday, the rain activity forecasted will not be widespread.

Early Next Week
Next week we will see a “ridging pattern” build in over the region, leading to much warmer, and drier conditions pattern wise for the majority of the upcoming week.
However, this does not mean the drier pattern will equal less humidity. In fact it’ll be quite the opposite as humidity levels will remain fairly high into next week.
The ridging pattern finally will reach overhead across the Southern Plains by Tuesday, and this will be the hottest day of the upcoming forecast, and maybe the highest temperatures we’ve seen all year!

Models continue to indicate temperatures Tuesday anywhere from the upper 90s and triple digits. Some of the hottest temperatures in terms of highs continue to look to range between 100º and 104º especially in parts of Oklahoma and the River Valley.

The high humidity we mentioned earlier, will continue throughout the week. Some dew points could reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. The reason this is important is because the heat and humidity will lead to a dangerous combination.

Heat index values Tuesday especially, could reach dangerous levels area-wide. Some heat index values could be between 105º-112º with some models being aggressive with their outputs showing nearly 115º heat index values in some areas as well.
If you work outdoors please be sure to follow heat safety Tuesday, as the heat and humidity combination may be dangerous for prolonged outdoor activities.
If you have illnesses that can be impacted by the heat, Tuesday may be a good day to just stay inside in the AC.
We’ll keep an eye on the forecast! – Joshua Wisel
