SOUTHERN PLAINS- Dangerous summer heat cranks up across the south today, as many states face extreme heat warnings (purple), and heat advisories (orange) for this afternoon into this evening.
A heat wave is building in across the Southern U.S. with triple digit heat expected from Texas, to parts of Alabama. And across almost the entirety of our Weather 225 coverage areas.
Some of the warmest areas will be across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, where some areas could see highs between 102º-108º.
The actual air temperatures will tell one part of the story. When you factor in the high humidity in many areas that will lead to dangerously high heat index values up to 115º in some areas.

- 114º Tulsa
- 114º Fort Smith
- 114º Memphis
- 113º DFW
- 112º Little Rock
- 112º Joplin
- 111º Shreveport
