Volunteer Storm Chaser Application
Weather225 is seeking experienced and safety‑minded individuals to join our team as Volunteer Storm Chasers. This is a non‑paid, experience‑driven position designed for those who want to expand their storm‑chasing portfolio, contribute to real‑time severe weather coverage, and collaborate with a professional weather media team.
Position Overview
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in severe weather observation and storm‑chasing operations. Chasers work independently using their own vehicle, equipment, and safety gear while coordinating with the Weather225 team during active weather events.
This position does not include pay, benefits, or insurance. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk.
Requirements
- 2–5 Years Experience in storm chasing, field meteorology, or severe weather documentation
- Storm Chasing Training (formal or informal)
- Strong understanding of storm structure, radar interpretation, and chase safety
- Ability to operate safely and independently in rapidly changing environments
- Reliable vehicle, communication tools, and personal safety equipment
- Professional communication and the ability to coordinate with our team during live events
What You Provide
- Your own vehicle, fuel, equipment, and chase gear
- Your own insurance (Weather225 does not provide insurance or liability coverage)
- Real‑time updates, observations, and media during active chase operations
Media Ownership & Usage
You retain full ownership of all raw video and photos you capture while chasing.
By participating with Weather225, you grant us royalty‑free rights to use your footage, photos, and reports on our platforms — including live streams, broadcasts, social media, and digital content — for any chase conducted under the Weather225 name. Proper credit will always be given.
